Jean-Pierre Gagne, Ph.D.

/Education/Conf_2011/Speakers/Gagne.jpgJean-Pierre Gagné is a Professor of Audiology at the École d’orthophonie et d’audiologie, Université de Montréal. He teaches undergradate and graduate courses in Audiologic Rehabilitation (AR). He conducts his research at the Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal and his current research activities include: auditory, visual and audiovisual speech-perception in older adults; evaluation of the effort expended to understand speech under difficult listening condition, the development and evaluation of group AR programs and the psychosocial aspects of hearing loss in the elderly. Dr. Gagné is a main proponent of using  the International Classification of functioning, disability and health (ICF: WHO, 2001) and a problem solving approach to AR. He has written extensively on this topic.
