Driving directions:

From the North

  • Travel south on I-5; cross the Willamette River via the Marquam Bridge, following the signs to City Center/Beaverton. Take 6th Ave exit. Get in the left lane immediately and turn left on College. Turn left on Broadway, stay in the right lane, and follow the signs to VA Hospital.

OR

  • Travel south on I-5; exit I-405 South and cross the Willamette River via the Fremont Bridge, follow signs to City Center and 6th Ave. Stay in the right lane and take 6th Ave exit. Again, stay in the right lane and follow the signs to VA Hospital.

OR

  • Take I-5 south to Terwilliger Blvd exit. Stay in the right hand lane and go right at the top of the exit (Barbur Blvd). At the first light take a left onto Terwilliger Blvd. Go through the light at Capitol HWY. Follow Terwilliger approximately 2-2 1/2 miles to VA Medical Center.

From the West

  • Travel east on HWY 26/Sunset HWY, stay in the right lane and follow signs to Salem/The Dalles. Pass through the Vista Ridge Tunnel, following signs to I-405 South. Stay in the right lane and take the 6th Ave exit and follow signs to VA Hospital.

From The Northwest

  • Travel southeast on HWY 30 (St. Helens Road) towards City Center, following signs to I-405 South. Take I-405 South, get in the right lane after the HWY 26 exit and then exit at 6th Ave. Stay in the right lane and follow signs to the VA Hospital.

From Lake Oswego

  • Travel north on Macadam. Turn left on Boundary just past the Johns Landing Water Tower. Proceed one block and turn right on Corbett. Come to a four-way stop and turn left on Hamilton, at the next light cross Barbur and go up the hill on Hamilton. Turn right on Terwilliger and follow signs to the VA Hospital.

From The Southeast

  • Travel north on McLoughlin or west on Powell. Cross the Willamette River via the Ross Island Bridge and take City Center exit. Follow Corbett as it turns into Kelly, Arthur, and Caruthers. Stay in the far left lane so that you will be able to turn left on 6th Ave. Follow signs to VA Hospital.

OR

  • Take Ross Island bridge across the river. Stay in left lane. Follow the road through the tunnel and up to Barbur Blvd. At second light take a right on Hamilton. When you get to the top of the hill take a right on Terwilliger and follow signs to the VA Hospital.

From the East

  • Travel west on I-84 to the junction of I-5 South. Follow I-5 across the Willamette River via the Marquam Bridge. Take 6th Ave exit. Get in the left lane immediately and turn left on College. Turn left on Broadway, stay in the right lane and follow signs to the VA Hospital.

From The South

  • From I-5 South take the Corbett exit (# 298), turn left on to Corbett. At the four-way stop take a left on to Hamilton. At the light cross Barbur and go up the hill on Hamilton. Turn right on Terwilliger and follow signs to the VA Hospital.

OR

  • Travel north on I-5; take the Terwilliger exit turning left on Terwilliger. Follow Terwilliger approx 2 ½ miles, crossing Barbur and Capital HWY. Follow signs to VA Hospital/OHSU.

By Bus

  • TRI-MET bus #8 runs about every 20 minutes from Downtown to the VA Hospital.
