Central Auditory Processing Disorders (CAPD) Working Group
The Central Auditory Processing Group (CAPD) Working Group is a consortium of interested VA and DoD hearing health care researchers and clinicians who work to improve diagnosis, management, and outcomes of auditory processing dysfunction for Service members and Veterans. Our population of interest typically has normal or near-normal hearing sensitivity, worse-than-expected results on tests of auditory processing, and known exposure to possible risk factors. We develop tools and resources to:- identify militarily relevant risk factors for CAPD,
- recognize comorbidities and symptoms that can complicate the evaluation and management of auditory processing deficits, and
- advance evidence-based treatment strategies for CAPD.
