Professor Peng Liu, M.D., Ph.D., is the Director of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine University, Guangzhou, CHINA. He is the Guest Professor of West China School of Medicine, Sichuan University. His primary academic positions include the following: (1) Vice President & Chief Secretary----Academy of Otorhinolaryngology & Stomatology of the World Federation of Chinese medicine societies; (2) Vice President----Academy of Otorhinolaryngology China research and promotion of traditional Chinese Medicine; (3) Standing Committee Member----Chinese Academy of Otorhinolaryngology of the China Association of Chinese Medicine; (4) Vice Chair----Tinnitus expert group of the Academy of Otorhinolaryngology of the China Society of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine; (5) Member----Academy of Otology of the China International Exchange and Promotive Association for Medical and Health Care.
He has been working as a clinician, educator, and clinical researcher in the field of Otorhinolaryngology of integrated Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for more than 30 years. And he has been systematically studying tinnitus for over 20 years. He has developed a simple and comprehensive method for evaluating the severity of tinnitus in the long term tinnitus clinical practice----the Indicators of Tinnitus Severity (ITS), which is accurate and reliable to evaluate treatment outcomes of tinnitus. At the same time, he proposed a new and effective intervention method to treat tinnitus and other difficult-to-treat diseases----Yi Shi therapy (YST) which is promising in terms of clinical application. He has applied naturotherapy in TCM to the intervention of tinnitus and other difficult health conditions through lifestyle adjustment. He has published 15 textbooks/academic books as the chief editor, co-chief editor, or editorial board member, and over 50 academic papers.
