Peter Steyger, Ph.D.

Peter Steyger received his Ph.D. in Cochlear Anatomy and Ototoxicity from Keele University, U.K. in 1991. Following postdoctoral work with Professor Michael Wiederhold (development of otoconia in the vestibular system), and Dr. Richard Baird Research Center, at OHSU as an Assistant Professor. He is currently Associate Professor of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery, with full-time research investigations focusing on  how aminoglycosides and other ototoxins cross the blood-labyrinth barrier into the cochlea fluids and hair cells to induce deafness. He recently received a cochlear implant that has successfully integrated with his residual auditory pathways. Peter Steyger, Ph.D.
