Preventing Noise Induced Hearing Loss

With knowledge gathered at this session, attendees will:

• Learn what constitutes "Best Practices" for preventing NIHL and which specific hearing conservation procedures can and must be changed
• Describe emerging hearing protection devices for preventing NIHL
• Recognize that correct use of hearing protection devices is critical to obtain effective noise protection and thus why differences between factory ratings and actual protection provided often arise
• Understand the impact of NIHL upon hearing loss resulting from the aging process
• Describe pharmacologic interventions which may provide protection from NIHL and age-related loss
