Dr. Vaughan is an adjunct professor at Washington State University where she taught in the speech and hearing sciences graduate program for the past five years. Her research area is concerned with the effects of age-related cognitive changes on speech understanding. She is also project director of a grant funded by the Fund for Improvement of Post Secondary Education (FIPSE) through the Department of Education, which seeks to develop an interactive software program for instruction of future speech pathologists and audiologists featuring virtual instrumentation for laboratory courses. She is currently a Co-Principal investigator for an RR&D funded epidemiological study of diabetes in the veteran population and Co-Investigator on a continuation RR&D grant studying objective and efficient methods for detection and monitoring of ototoxicity.
